With the move of the WBA into the new Cluster for Production Technology on the campus of RWTH Aachen University we want to strike a new path and make your visit a true experience. In accordance with the motto “experience what is possible – then make the choice best for you”, we want to show how the future of tool-making could look with our various demonstrators. Our focus is on the development and presentation of practical solutions that help tool rooms make order processing more efficient along the entire process chain. Through the combination of different technologies and by concentrating on specific problems in the tool-making industry we can compare and evaluate different systems with each other. Naturally, the topics around Industry 4.0 play a central role. The digital linking of systems for task controlling, tool management but also of employees in different locations is presented on practical examples at the WBA in the form of demonstrators. True to the proverb that “the proof of the pudding is in the eating”, you can come and experience what is possible and look into the future of the tool and die industry.

We will work intensively, together with our cooperation partners, on the installation and implementation of demonstrators in the first few months of the year in order to make your visit an experience. Examples for demonstrators in the WBA are, among others, a self-developed system for efficient order tracking through a control station, the tracking of component parts and measuring equipment via an indoor positioning system, the use of smart glasses and devices for an easy and errorless assembly and machine service, an app for recording and recirculating knowledge for a comprehensive knowledge management and many more concrete solutions. As well, we give you the possibility to compare different software systems for production planning and control and select the best system for your company in a goal-oriented fashion. You can look forward to many new innovations in the “Erlebniswelt Werkzeugbau” of the WBA.
